Taco Bell Nutrition - Can A Good Nutrition Menu Help Weight Loss?

Taco Bell nutrition is one of the biggest questions asked by readers of this article. Is Taco Bell's nutrition as good as the claims it makes? Is it really worth all the hype? Well, let us find out.

Taco Bell Nutrition

First, we should look at the food nutrition facts on the back of the restaurant's menu. According to Taco Bell nutrition information provided by the fast-food giant, the restaurant offers six different food items on the menu which provide a total of about 14 calories per serving. Of course, that does not include the nutrition facts for all of those delicious menu items. Some of those items, like the Fajita and the burger menu, have much more fat and more calories than the others. So, you can see why so many people question Taco Bell's nutrition, since many people have given up trying to lose weight through eating at this type of restaurant.

However, Taco Bell's nutritionists maintain that many of the items on the Taco Bell nutrition menu are actually good for you, especially if you keep them in moderation. For example, the Fajita and Burritos category provide a decent amount of protein, while the tacos and burritos contain medium-to-high amounts of both protein and calories. So, you will likely get your daily dose of nutrition if you eat any of these Tacos, Burritos or Tacos Chilis. Of course, if you keep them in moderation, they are still good for you do not need to worry about adding extra fat and calories to your diet by eating them.

As for the salads, the answer is not as clear as you might think. For one thing, the choices on the Taco Bell nutrition menu are much less varied than you might find in most grocery stores. While some of the salads are low in calories, most are loaded with fat and cheese. If you choose the Cheeseburger on the Burger Club menu, be prepared to spend at least four times as many calories as you would on the burger alone! Fortunately, the salads are not the worst on the Taco Bell menu, so it is up to you to decide whether you want to pay the price for the salad or not.

Of course, all of the snacks on the menu at Taco Bell are healthy. The Cheeseburger and Fajita menu items are loaded with nutrition, as is the chili con carne option on the Deluxe taco. If you are looking for a high-protein option, the Mac n' cheese on the Beanburger menu is filling and tasty. The only problem with these dishes is that you really do get more calories and fat per serving than you would from a McDonald's cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich or taco salad.

The salads and other entrees on the Taco Bell menu are not bad, either. The choice between the original chili adobo and triple layer nachos with bean burrito shell is satisfying. The original Adobo has a beef and bean patty topped with sauce, while the triple layer nachos have bean, cheese, sour cream, cheddar and havaharti cheeses. If you are looking for something spicy, the creamy lime chutney on the strawberry yogurt dressing may be just the ticket. And, even though the Hawaiian fried chicken on the Big Island burrito is high in fat, it also contains leaner, better-quality chicken.

Even though the nutrition menu is very tempting, you should refrain from trying to buy any extra calories with it. Between the various snack mixes on the counter and the various fast food items inside, it is unlikely that you will get any additional calories through the ordering process. Plus, the amount of food inside each meal is too small to make any difference. You can save some calories by opting for a larger meal, such as a large bowl of soup or an entree with a baked potato. However, the limited amount of food offered in each entree means that you will be saving only a few calories for your dinner.
