What Are the Causes of Chest Pains?

What are chest pains? Simply put, they are a feeling of discomfort in the chest area. This can occur without any warning. The most common reason for their occurrence is stress. Stress can result in chest pains that may not be so easy to identify. This article will discuss some of the more common causes of these chest pains.

Chest Pains

First and foremost, a person who is stressed out will typically feel a constant sensation in their chest that is referred to as chest pain. It typically begins in the upper left chest and gradually moves down to the right chest. In addition, it may also occur in the shoulders or even in the abdomen area.

A heart attack is often mistaken for this type of chest pain, however, it is not a proven diagnosis. Heart attacks usually occur in the lung area or in the neck area. Both of these areas contain blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart. If a heart attack occurs, the person will experience chest pain along with palpitations or sweating in the area.

Another way to identify whether a person has chest pains is by determining where they are emanating from. They commonly occur in the neck, shoulders, and face. However, they can also manifest themselves in the stomach area. There are several theories regarding why this occurs. One theory is that these chest pains are caused by acid reflux, which affects the lower esophageal sphincter, or LES, which is located below the esophagus.

The LES relaxes when a person is under extreme stress. An unhealthy lifestyle, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, or high levels of caffeine have been identified as possible triggers for heart attack. A heart attack does not always indicate heart disease, but if a person has a history of heart disease in his family it is important to note this possibility. Another possible cause is that the LES fails during stressful conditions and the valve may be unable to prevent the heart from pumping blood out of the heart to the body.

In order to avoid experiencing chest pains, a person needs to identify the triggers that cause them. For example, if a person is stressed for a long period of time, he may notice that during times when he is not feeling stressed, he begins to feel chest pains. This may trigger him to think about his life and what he needs to do to change his circumstances.

If a person feels that his chest is getting tense, he needs to sit down and relax. A good massage or a soothing bath can help to relieve tension in the chest. He may want to take some herbs or supplements that are known to calm the heart. Some individuals enjoy drinking chamomile tea or lemon balm tincture, which has a calming effect on the heart. This combination can relieve the stress of the day and help the heart to relax.

If the above mentioned solutions do not work then a person should see his doctor. A physician will be able to take a tissue sample from the patient and run a series of tests to discover the exact cause of the chest pain. Once a diagnosis is made, a treatment can be devised that will reduce the pain and discomfort. A person who experiences chest pains should not ignore this condition because it can lead to heart disease and cardiac arrest. It is therefore necessary for someone experiencing chest pains to consult a physician at once in order to treat the problem and prevent further damage to the heart.

What Is Prostate Cancer Symptoms?

Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer and yet, until now, many men are not even aware that they may have it. Men need to be more aware of the warning signs for prostate cancer and take immediate action if they see any of them. By learning what the signs are and where to find them, men can significantly reduce their chances of developing prostate cancer and in some cases, prevent it from spreading to other parts of their bodies. The main type of prostate cancer symptoms is serum uric acid level. As urine flows through the prostate gland, some of it will collect at the urethra tube and stay there as crystals. If these crystals are not filtered out of the system, they can turn into substances called prostatic fluids which can stick to and block the tubes leading to the bladder and urinary tract. Prostate cancer can make it easier for a tumor to form in these clumps and make it easier for the fluid to be trapped in the prostate gland. Other prostate cancer symptoms can ...

How a Classroom Climate Can Affect Stress Reduction

Mindfulness based stress reduction is an eight-week proof-based therapeutic program which provides intensive, mindfulness-based daily meditation and relaxation training to help people cope with chronic stress, burnout, anxiety and chronic pain. Developed by Dr. Michael J. Cole, Ph.D., this program is specifically designed to reduce the root causes of stress and to create lasting change in a person's relationship with their body, mind, and spirit. It uses mindfulness as the framework for transforming these three states and provides students with a powerful understanding of how to connect the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. As part of the mindful based stress reduction curriculum, students are given extensive clinical instruction by Dr. Cole, along with a range of clinical practice exercises. During their clinical visits, Dr. Cole and his team of trained consultants assess each student's needs, helping them develop tailored programs based on their personal needs. The f...

How to Interpret a Stress Strain Curve

In materials and metallurgy, a stress-strain curve in a material provides the mathematical relationship between strain and stress. It's obtained by slowly applying load to an instrument, taking readings of the deformation and calculating the stress. This process is called load cell application. The key to interpreting a stress-strain diagram is to know what the curve means and what it depicts. A stress-strain curve can have many different shapes, but it always follows a decreasing slope or U-shape. The most widely used shapes are the L-shaped curve (also called the isotonic curve) and the curved line. It's very important that you learn and understand these two important shapes. The stress-strain curve shows the relationship between the applied force and the deformed point. This can be thought of as the yield curve or strain yield curve of the particular material being tested. The yield curve is a measure of the energy change due to porosity, where the energy change is graphed a...
